Windsor is in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Lowlands land form region. The great lakes began to form after the last glacial period which was around 14,000 years ago, the ice sheets carved basins into the land and filled with melt water. Canada is on one of the 30 or more tectonic plates which are under our earth's continents and oceans.
Climate:
Windsor has a semi-continental climate and experiences the warmest climate of any of Ontario's cities. Windsor has warm and humid summers, and cold winters. Due to the great lakes surrounding Windsor the climate in the summer would be warmer, and summers would be cooler compared to other cities. The lakes also cause the humidity in the summer. The Windsor region is actually located at the same latitude as Northern California, and happens to be one of the warmest cities in Ontario. Windsors elevation is about 623 feet or 190 meters, and doesn't have much effect on Windsor.

Soil & Vegetation:
Some things that affect soil development in Windsor is water erosion, which is a factor due to the great lakes surrounding the city, another thing that affects soil development is all of the buildings, roads, and infrastructure. This doesn't leave much room for plants to grow which increases chances of erosion. Windsor has a leached soil, it consists mostly of brown podzolic soils. Windsor's natural vegetation region is the deciduous forests, some human induced changes to the region is cutting down the trees, which affects the animal life as well oxygen and much more.
